Back in the old'n days, small private cemeteries were very common. Even in the city limits, up on a hill next to the old Cottage Hotel, there is a grave surrounded by a fence where a young child who, died of diphtheria, was buried.
In 1904 some Medina citzens met to organize an association for a city cemetery, and on April 24th it became official. After that association members paid a $5 membership fee and land was purchsed.
